Domino Attachment and Object Service Estimator tool
Category 8.5 DAOS Domino

Last week IBM published the DAOS Estimator tool. With this tool you can estimate how much diskspace you could save by upgrading your server to Domino 8.5 and enabling DAOS.
You can run the tool on any version Domino server so there is no need to first upgrade to 8.5. The tool can be run against 1 single database, or a directory or on all databases on your server. The tool will scan all attachments in the databases and generate an overview of the attachment size, which compression is being used and the reference count (how often was the attachment found).
Attachment Name Size Compr Size Compr Type Refcount
========================= ========== ========== ========== ==========
End-User Support- and Mai 207783 207783 None 1
Foutmelding3.JPG 17473 18304 Huffman 1
install.bat 221 150 LZ1 1
im_c.png 6970 6970 None 2
At the end of the scan you will see a summary of all databases with the number of databases, the number of attachments, the number of duplicate attachments and the estimated disk savings. Below is the output from the tool as I ran it against our own production server.
Summary:
Total DB's analyzed: 1103
Total DB's skipped due to errors: 0
Total Size of NSF's Examined: 148.8 GB
Total Attachments found: 364138
Total Duplicate Attachments found: 131022
Total DAOS Eligible Attachments: 364138
Estimated Size of DAOSified NSF's: 45.7 GB
Estimate Size of DAOS dir: 86.0 GB
Total Disk Savings: 26.0 GB
Compression Statistics:
None: 226937
Huffman: 114554
LZ1: 22647
Huffman on LZ1 servers: 0
