I have now posted a version of the tool that no longer deletes the file platform.xml at the end and therefore takes away the risk of trashing your Notes configuration.

Just download the zip-file and unzip the 3 files form the zip file to a directory. Start the executable ModNotesCSS-RGB.exe and select your color.

After running the tool and selecting your color, just start Notes, go to Preferences, Windows and Themes, select a different theme and click on Apply. Then select the theme you were using and again click on Apply. Your new unread color will show up in your mailfile.

You can download the tool here.

Gravatar Image1 - Might want to note that this is for 8.5 only.

Gravatar Image2 - No, it works with 8.0.1 and higher.

Gravatar Image3 - Oops, meant to say 8.0 and higher.

Gravatar Image4 - Good work Almar. This version works well.

Gravatar Image5 - Thank you Almar. Another download from me, Emoticon

Gravatar Image6 - Well done Almar. It worked smoothly. I like the ability to choose any color I like.

Gravatar Image7 - I really love your application and so do my clients I support. Can you modify your application so I can use it with 8.5 Fix Pack 1?

Thanks! Emoticon

Gravatar Image8 - It doesn't work for me. Why?
I've also tried the manual way: edit notes.css and deleted platform.xml. Still no luck =P

Gravatar Image9 - Ok, got it working.
there're 2 com.ibm.notes.branding_8.0.x.xxxxxxxx-xxxx files.
Just make sure you remove/rename one of them.

Cheers

Gravatar Image10 - This worked like a charm! Thanks!!!

Gravatar Image11 - Is there a way to uninstall this? The newest version on Notes 8.5.1 has the unread color feature built in and this tool now seems to be interfering with that. Thank you

Gravatar Image12 - Beth,

there is nothing to uninstall because nothing is being installed Emoticon The tool just modifies a CSS file which should be overwritten upon an upgrade of Lotus Notes. Did you uninstall Notes 8.5 before installing Notes 8.5.1? If not, I have seen a couple of times that not all files form the 8.5 installation were removed during an upgrade.

You can check your directory [Notes program directory]\framework\shared\eclipse\plugins

You should have 1 file there called com.ibm.notes.branding_[version number].jar. If you have 2 then the removal of files from the older version failed.

Gravatar Image13 - Hello there and thank you for your response. I did not uninstall 8.5 before I installed 8.5.1 because my company had prepared an upgrade package for the install. I checked my Notes directory and only have one file (com.ibm.notes.branding.version_8.5.120090929-1223.jar).
Any other ideas?
