SORBS RBL to shutdown on Monday?

One of the best RBL's (Realtime Blackhole Lists) SORBS might shutdown on Monday. The owner of the RBL announced a couple of weeks ago that he has no more sponsors left to raise funds to maintain the list and that he will be forced to stop.

A lot of (Domino) server use the SORBS RBL for blacklisting mail and in case of a shutdown of SORBS it is very important to remove SORBS from the configuration.

So stay tuned and watch the weblogs on Monday.

There is no secondary sort column for this view

One of my customers had one user that intermittently got the error "there is no seconday sort column for this view" when doing a type-ahead search in the address dialog box in Lotus Notes 7.0.2. Deleting the cache.ndk would temporarily solve the problem.

Today I found a document in the Notes/Domin 6 and 7 Forum posted in October 2004 where Martijn Mulder (thank you, thank you, should you be reading this!) describes the cause and resolution of the problem.

When you start a "Starts with..." search in a categorized view (by just starting to type) you have the possibility to either "Search Within Category" or "Search All". When you choose to "Search Within Category" Notes for some reason 'remembers' this option so it uses this option when doing a "Find names starting with" in the "Select Addresses" interface. Since that search is happening in a non-categorized, the error appears.

You can 'solve' the issue by doing another search in a categorized view and selecting "Search All".

This issue is solved in version 7.0.3 and 8.x.

Prevent agent from running after being saved

It often happens that an agent that is supposed to run once per day immediately runs after the agent is being modified and saved although the agent already ran that day.
I always try to prevent that from happening by setting the agent schedule to start running as of tomorrow. Today I learned that ever since Domino 7 there is also a notes.ini setting preventing the agent from running. Just add Amgr_SkipPriorDailyScheduledRuns=1 to your server notes.ini!

Unexpected truncated documents

Two weeks ago I visited a customer that had a problem in one of their Lotus Notes applications. The application replicated to approximately 20 servers and on 2 servers there were documents missing.

It turned out that all replica's did have the same number of documents but these 2 replica's contained a number of truncated documents. These documents only had 2 fields left, $UpdatedBy and $Revisions.

However, there were no replication settings that could explain the document truncation. I found document 1165053 in the Lotus Software Knowledge Base explaining that the truncation can be caused by corrupt replication settings documents. So I ran an agent to delete all replication settings and everything seemed fine.

2 days later I got a call and was told that there were truncated documents again.

So, I went over there a second time and found in the log that the corrupt replication settings documents were added to the database from the template by the design task. So I now ran the agent to remove the replication settings documents from both the database and the template. Since then, no more truncated documents.
